About Ford Otosan
Ford Otosan is a major automotive OEM in Turkey, designing and producing heavy duty trucks, light/medium commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles and diesel engines for all these automotive applications. Founded in 1959, Ford Otosan has the biggest R&D centre of the Turkish automotive industry, with over 1,300 engineers developing advanced technologies for global competition. It is the global design and engineering centre for Ford’s heavy commercial vehicles and diesel engines. Ford Otosan accounted for almost 60% of Turkey’s commercial vehicle production and over 60% of commercial vehicle exports.

In 2013, Ford Otosan started to manufacture the new Ford Cargo heavy duty truck, followed by new 13-liter Ecotorq engines, developed by Ford Otosan engineers. Both of which the intellectual property rights are owned by Ford Otosan. Next generation of Ford Cargo truck to be debuted in Hannover 2018 will be marketed in different continents globally. Ford Trucks is currently available in Eastern European countries. Current annual production capacity is 15000 units. Ford Cargo’s wide product portfolio covers long haulage, construction and road trucks between 16 and 40 tons. Future plan is to increase the market shares in European market with high-end technologies that pave the way for high-end safety, comfort and efficiency that this project will trigger in heavy duty truck segment.

Role in the project
Ford Otosan offers EUIII, EUV and EUVI compliant heavy-duty products to the markets including EU. Thus Ford Otosan products use the state-of-the-art technologies in engine control units and the engine control software including the latest On-Board Diagnostics algorithms available in the literature. In this manner Ford Otosan has the experience in the area of this project including the real world cases.
